Introduction
The Mount Isa and District Amateur Radio Group Incorporated started out in the 1970s as the Mount Isa Bacon Board (bacon = ham - I had to ask...), a group of radio enthusiasts that met at the Mount Isa Tavern.
The group visited the Gregory Canoe race in 1979 to find CBers struggling to provde comms. They thought they could do better and assisted in 1980 and thenceforth for many years.
They also assisted with some horse endurance events and off road car rally.
We currently operate a 2m repeater VK4RMI with IRLP and Echolink connections and a 70cm Repeater VK4RIC, still in testing/build. A 2m APRS Digipeater is currently being tested and should be fully operational soon, and an APRS iGate is also in place.
We are currently looking at adding an Allstar link as well, as this has become a favourite mode for many of our members.
