Introduction

The Alice Springs Amateur Radio Club Inc is located in the Red Centre of Australia. The club has members who have a wide range interests. We aim to enjoy each others company while learning from each other.

We have two repeaters located on West Gap, the site for most of the town's radio and telecommunications antennas. It is easily visible from most parts of Alice Springs.

VK8RCA the 2-metre repeater has output on 146.950MHz and input on 146.350MHz with CTCSS of 91.5Hz. VK8RIT, the 70cm repeater has output on 438.525MHz and input on 433.525 with CTCSS of 91.5Hz. Visitors to the Alice are welcome to use both repeaters.

Meetings

Meetings are held at 10:00 on the first Saturday of each month in the Bellman Hangar Aviation Museum. The Museum is on Memorial Drive south of Larapinta Drive. Look for the three engine 'Drover' RFDS aircraft mounted on a pedestal.

Training Courses And Assessment Information

The Club is able to train and assess students [no matter what age] who wish to get an Australian Amateur radio licence allowing the licence holder to transmit voice and digital signals around the world using the ionosphere to 'skip' signals. It is possible to use dedicated satellites, carrying amateur equipment, to contact other amateurs including those who are part of the crew on the International Space Station.

Our Club Meetings include an educational component which can be tailored to the needs of those wishing to obtain an Amateur Radio Licence or to upgrade an existing one.
