The 1934 Centenary Contest

1934 saw the first major international contest sponsored by the W.I.A.. Known (perhaps incorrectly) as the Centenary Contest, it was a great success with over 50 countries participating. From it flowed the VK/ZL Contest commencing in 1935.

Max Hull, VK3ZS (SK) a past Federal President and WIA Historian, wrote an article about the contest in 1984 and this is available as a down loadable file at the bottom of this page. Those were indeed heady days for amateurs!
