Class Licences

About Class Licences

Under Australian legislation, Class Licences authorises a person in Australia, to operate a radiocommunications device. Each Class Licence will have operational and technical conditions (the rules) attached to the licence.

Under the Amateur Station Class Licence 2023, a mandatory condition requires a person to be technically qualified. There are three levels of qualification:
Foundation, the entry level;
Standard; and
Advanced level.
More information can be found on the ACMA's website.

If any of the conditions are not adhered to, the person operating the device to be un-licensed and therefore may be in breach of the Radiocommunications Act.
