Full Details : The Athol Johnson Memorial contest is a 8 hour VHF contest for VK7.
Athol was one of Tasmania's most progressive amateurs. He was first licensed in September 1947 and quickly gained recognition by his outstanding skill and technical knowledge. He was keenly interested in VHF work and was one of the few VK7 amateurs who worked consistently on 3 and 6m. Athol Johnson VK7AJ died on September 8 1959, after a long illness. This contest remembers his pioneering efforts in VHF transmission. |
