Full Details : Winter Back Country XC Skii Trip to Bogong High Plains.
A group of VK3 amateurs will return to the Bogong High Plains for a back country XC ski adventure. Camping out in the snow, they will stay in snow caves, tents and huts. Using ultralight QRP gear they will be on all HF bands and also VHF repeaters using solar power and antennas strung up in snow gums. Listen out each afternoon for a contact. The team of two Tommy vk2ir & Peter vk2nn will be on the island for approx 4 days, and will be operating on multiple bands simulataneously to give everyone the chance to contact Montague Island on the light house weekend.This is a very special Island and what a great opportunity to promote it and the light house weekend.We will want to make contact with as many light houses around Australia & the world. Horus 6 will be flying Adrian VK5ZSN's simplex repeater payload - we'd like to invite everybody to try and make contacts through the repeater - it will be listening on 145.275MHz, requiring a CTCSS tone of 107.2Hz to activate.
