New WIA Life Member VK3LC

The WIA Annual General Meeting held in Canberra on Saturday 7 May, awarded Alf Chandler VK3LC Honorary Life Membership of the Wireless Institute of Australia.

The prestigious honour followed a strong recommendation to the WIA Board of Directors made by Amateur Radio Victoria. A motion elevating Alf VK3LC to Life membership was passed by members at the WIA AGM. It recognises Alf's meritorious contributions to the Institute which date back to 1929 including his sterling effort over many years in the activity of coordinating Intruder Watch and involvement with the WIA Publications Committee.

Alf Chandler VK3LC has been a radio amateur for 81 years and a loyal member of the WIA since 1929. He is an inspiration to many others who know him. Alf and wife Elyse will be will be guests of honour at a function on 31 May, organised by Melbourne's Moorabbin Radio Club's Tuesday Morning Group, to celebrate his 100th birthday.
