This weeks WIA News Broadcast produced by Amateur Radio Victoria

Date : 04 / 02 / 2010
Author : Jim Linton - VK3PC

A team of members headed by Jim Linton VK3PC and Barry Robinson VK3PV have produced this Sunday’s VK1WIA broadcast. Other team members were Ross Pittard VK3CE, Peter Cossins VK3BFG, Steve
Bushell VK3HK, Tim Lewis VK3HAM and Murray Lewis VK3EZM.

The broadcast includes interviews about the special station VI3KIAH that will be on air from Kinglake 2pm-8pm on Sunday (Black Saturday 1st anniversary) and with the WIA Centenary Committee Chairman David Wardlaw VK3ADW. It highlights the activity of Intruder Watch with a report from the Region 3 Coordinator for the IARU-MS, Peter Young VK3MV, plus audio samples of intruders.

There is a discussion point on the hidden costs of amateur repeaters, with mention of Amateur Radio Victoria repeaters, the recent Mt William VK3RWZ repeater experience and high expenditure on the D-STAR repeater at Mt Macedon.

The invitation from the WIA Broadcast Editor, Graham Kemp VK4BB to produce a broadcast was to provide an opportunity for last minute publicity about the Centre Victoria RadioFest (Kyneton 14 February) – and it does that too.
