GippsTech is the premier 2 day conference organised and run by the Eastern Zone Amateur Radio Club Inc for VHF, UHF & SHF enthusiasts in Australia. This year it is being held over weekend the 11th and 12th of July at the Gippsland Campus of Monash University. Various presentations are being given by fellow amateurs covering different topics over the two days and after the first day's presentation a get together for dinner is organised for all interested to catch up, discuss the day's topics and have a good in general chin wag.
Topics are varied, but several amateurs have been heard to comment that “There is something for everyone”, regardless of your interests in the hobby.
This year we will have presentations on:
A simple USB Rig interface
Observations on the Victorian bush fires, with an emphasis on communications, presented by Doug VK3UM – who was surrounded by fire for several weeks
How to assess and modify surplus commercial microwave equipment
Towers – safety and how to go about erecting them (legally!) and how to use them safely
Updates on ionospheric conditions and propagation
A direct conversion, phasing transceiver for 144 MHz
A transverter for 2.4 GHz and more!
