Roy VK6BO awarded the Order of Australia Medal for Service to the Community and Amateur Radio

Dennis VK6KAD reports that Roy, VK6BO has been awarded the Order of Australia Medal for services to the community via Amateur Radio and the Travellers Net in this years Australia Day Honors list.

A lot of people will know Roy Chamberlain VK6BO, particularly from the Australian Travellers net which is on 14.116MHz. Roy has received the Order of Australia Medal (the OAM) General Section for Services and Welfare to members of the public via the travellers net over many years. Roy has been net controller for the last 16 years.

Roy has given his time tirelessly for a long, long, time, and is still doing so. Peter Harrison VK6HH a long time friend of Roy said he could not think of anybody else who so richly deserves to be so recognised. It is a great pleasure to know he has been awarded the OAM.'

The WIA board extends it congratulations to Roy.
