Australia Proposes Table Allocation to Amateur at 135.7-137.8 kHz

Date : 14 / 03 / 2005
Author : Michael Owen - VK3KI

Item 1.15 of the agenda for the next ITU World Radiocommunication Conference in 2007 ("WRC-07") is "to consider a secondary allocation to the amateur service in the frequency band 135.7-137.8 kHz".

As part of the ongoing process of preparation for WRC-07, the ITU Radiocommunication Study Groups are considering a draft Conference Preparatory Meeting Report that proposes text that will satisfy the various agenda items.

Currently the only proposal to satisfy agenda item 1.15 is the entry of a footnote. Australia proposed as a second method of satisfying the agenda item an allocation to the Table, rather than a footnote, to the recent Asia-Pacific Telecommunity Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-2007 held in Bangkok, Thailand, between 28 February and 3 March 2005.

That proposal received support, and now Australia will move to forward the position it suggests to the relevant ITU Radiocommunication Study Groups Working Party.
