The WIA is an active participant on the Standards Australia RC-006 Committee dealing with Radiocommunications Equipment - General. The WIA is represented on that Standards Committee by Noel Higgins, VK3NH.
Through the work of this committee, Standards Australia has published AS/NZS 4295:2015 Amd 1:2015 - Analogue speech (angle modulated) equipment operating in land mobile and fixed services bands in the frequency range 29.7 MHz to 1 GHz.
AS/NZS4295 has been revised to follow the ETSI land mobile standard EN 300 086-1 whereas it previously followed an IEC testing methodology, so the change may reduce the need for suppliers to retest ETSI product for the local market.
The aeronautical service Standard AS/NZS 4583 has also been revised as a direct adoption of the standard ETSI EN 300 676-1 V1.5.2, to overcome product supply issues.
