Applications are currently open for a Privacy (& Complaints) Officer.

The Privacy (& Complaints) Officer oversees and undertakes all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the WIA’s policies and procedures covering the privacy of, and access to, personal information and complaints in compliance with federal and state laws.

Your assistance will be key in assisting the Wireless Institute of Australia board to manage the organisations compliance with its privacy obligations. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wanting to gain experience within a compliance leadership role.

The role encompasses elements of:

Governance:
Understand and undertake privacy and complaints investigations and resolution processes on behalf of the Board.

Legal Compliance:

Understand the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988.

Understand and abide with company law requirements and any statutory obligations under all relevant laws and regulations.

Understand the structures, processes, procedures and documents that establish the WIA organisation.

Investigations:

Undertake investigations and write investigation reports within policy and process timeframes.

Apply procedural fairness and due process principles.

Administrative, Management and Communication:

Maintain a privacy complaints and complaints register as per WIA and ACMA requirements.

Meet with WIA, ACMA and other organisations as and when required.

Respond to, and securely file, all privacy correspondence and documentation.

Keeping relevant stakeholders informed of the activities and investigations where necessary.

Assist with the Statutory Reporting requirements in relation to investigations and complaints.

Desirable Background:

High degree of integrity, honesty and is a well-respected member of the amateur radio community.

Ideally you will come from a legal background or policy administration in the Australian Public Service (APS) or Not for Profit organisation who works with the APS.

This is a role that has a flexible location. Work is typically conducted via email and internet based collaboration systems with little need to travel or attend meetings in person.
