WIA Secretary Visits Gold Coast Amateur Radio Club

Date : 24 / 09 / 2008
Author : Geoff Atkinson - VK3AFA

Whilst visiting the Gold Coast with family, WIA Secretary Geoff Atkinson VK3AFA took time out to attend the Gold Coast Amateur Radio Society Technical Day on Saturday 20 September. A lecture on the design and construction techniques associated with power supplies was given to the assembled members by Club member John. A BBQ lunch had proceeded the lecture.

The visit to the GCARS enabled Geoff to present to the Club their 2007 Club Grant Scheme cheque which will go towards costs associated with the replacement of the 2m Repeaters on Mt Tamborine and Mt Springbrook.

In presenting the cheque to Club Secretary Aaron Davidson VK4VOX, Geoff commended the Club on their activities and achievements and their successful application to the Club Grants scheme.

The purpose of the scheme is to promote and advance Amateur Radio, the WIA and its affiliated Club by supporting useful and innovative projects undertaken by affiliated Clubs.

The Club Grants Awards for 2008 will be announced shortly.
