President clarifies 2-letter call issue

28/ 04/ 2008   Michael Owen VK3KI, WIA President made the following statement on behalf of the Board today : While it is not our intention to comment on the submissions received on the proposed 2-letter callsign ballot process that the WIA and ACMA have jointly published before the closing date for submissions, there is one matter that has concerned a number of people that I would like to clear up.

ACMA Releases Papers

21/ 04/ 2008   ACMA has recently issued a number of papers concerning the Principles of Spectrum Management in Australia and a discussion paper in respect of various proposals to re-plan spectrum in the region of 420 to 512 MHz, with proposals affecting the 70 cm amateur band.

Further Reminder, 2 letter calls

19/ 04/ 2008   As well as reminding amateurs generally that 30 April 2008 was the last date for comment on the proposed two-letter callsign process published jointly by the WIA and ACMA, WIA President Michael Owen VK3KI also reminded amateurs that 30 April 2008 was also the last date for the lodgment of an application for a review where a two-letter callsign has been lost as a result of a failure to renew a licence in due time.
